New InterMoor facility gets its first major job

InterMoor’s brand new Morgan City facility will be busy in the coming year. The mooring and subsea installation firm has finalized an agreement with Cameron International Corporation to design and fabricate 11 suction piles for the Jack/St. Malo field in the Gulf of Mexico. The 11 suction piles are all 18 ft in diameter, ranging from 55 to 75 feet in length and weighing up to 115 tons. The piles will be installed in the Walker Ridge block in 7,000 feet of water. The design and engineering of the piles was awarded to InterMoor in June and Phase 1 of the design work has already been completed. The fabrication portion was awarded later in 2010. InterMoor’s new 24-acre South Louisiana facility has two fabrication buildings with more than 25,000 sq ft of work space. Pile fabrication started in December and the last one will be delivered in January 2012. “We constructed our new facility to be able to handle projects of this magnitude and better serve customers such as Cameron,” says Fabrication Manager Victor Mitchell. “This is the perfect job to launch the opening of our new facility.”
