When Setpoint Integrated Solutions held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new 113,000-square-foot corporate headquarters off Highland Road earlier this year, the Baton Rouge-based company did more than celebrate the opening of a new office building and service center.
As Business Report details in a feature from the current issue, Setpoint also marked the future direction of one of Baton Rouge’s fastest-growing businesses.
Established in 1959, Setpoint provides total integrated solutions for industrial challenges, including complete product lines of control systems, control and automated valves, instrumentation, analytical, safety-system solutions and filtration. Setpoint also offers comprehensive training and high-level, immediate technical and repair support for its clients’ systems.
The company changed its name from DMC-Carter Chambers in 2014 to more accurately reflect its added service capabilities—such as adding safety relief valve services to its control valve repair capabilities—and expanded product lines. The name “Setpoint” refers to the point at which systems are set for maximum efficiency and refers to the term “set point,” which is heavily used in the industry. The addition of “Integrated Solutions” builds on this concept to create a brand.
Joey Jobe, Setpoint’s chairman, says the company’s ability to provide turnkey valve services with in-house expertise gives clients increased efficiency by enabling them to have all their valve needs met in one place.
“It’s rare for industrial companies, such as refineries or petrochemical plants, to be able to use one shop to service and repair all of their different types of valves,” Jobe says. “Now they’ve got one partner who can handle all their valve and process control solutions.”
Setpoint has 700 employees in 19 locations, including repair centers, and works with clients in the petrochemical, refining, power generation, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and oil and gas industries worldwide.
“We’re very diversified into a lot of different industries that all use the technology we sell and service,” Jobe says. “This enables us to be very stable.”
