The Green Light Plan, East Baton Rouge Parish’s $600 million transportation improvements initiative, is featured in the Fall 2011 issue of trade magazine DDC Journal—Design, Develop, Construct as a key initiative spearheaded by local government. The article “Green Light and Good to Go” provides an overview of the plan and highlights early accomplishments, such as the ongoing $61.2 million Central Thruway project, one of the first and largest in the plan. According to the magazine, “It wasn’t until the Green Light Plan took effect that funds were available for the full, four-laning of the Central Thruway project, allowing it to accelerate out of the planning stages and into construction.” Based in Chicago, DDC Journal bills itself as “North America’s Resource for Building and Real Estate Professionals,” serving a targeted readership of more than 30,000 senior-level commercial, industrial, office, mixed-use, government, health care, education, retail and residential executives. It is published quarterly. In January 2010, Public Works Magazine, a national print and online trade magazine with more than 60,000 monthly subscribers, published a story on the Green Light Plan titled “Voter-supported growth.” To read the DDC Journal article, click here and go to page 212.
