East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux has changed his political affiliation from Democrat to Republican. But District Attorney Hillar Moore says he has no plans to follow in Gautreaux’s footsteps and join the growing Republican ranks. Moore, who was elected in 2008, says being district attorney isn’t a political job. East Baton Rouge had stood out in Louisiana, where elected Republicans increasingly dominate, by having Democrats as three of the top parish officials: Gautreaux, Moore and Mayor Kip Holden. —Timothy Boone
