Freedom Railcar Solutions, a mobile railcar repair company, will establish a mobile repair and cleaning service at USA Rail Terminals’ 200-acre Port Allen rail terminal, Freedom Railcar announced today.

The two companies have entered into an agreement for Freedom Railcar to establish a service at the terminal. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed, and it’s unclear how many jobs Oklahoma-based Freedom Railcar will bring or create for Port Allen.

“We are excited to work with USA Rail Terminals to establish our Gulf Coast presence. We will provide an efficient, solutions-based resource for railcar owners, lessees and fleet management companies who operate in the region,” says Don Walsh, Freedom Railcar Solutions vice president of business development, in a statement.

Freedom Railcar will provide mobile and on-site railcar repair and cleaning services, according to a news release. With its mobile units, the company says it can serve customers within a 250-mile radius of USA Rail’s Port Allen Terminal, which is serviced by the Union Pacific Railroad. The facility holds 450 railcars and has the ability to serve 1,200 railcars if unused acres of the terminal’s property are developed.

Freedom Railcar was formed in 2014 and focused its initial efforts on the crude-by-rail market. The company provides services to railcar owners, shippers, lessees and operators transporting commodities in the southwest and northwestern United States.

“The ability to offer full-service railcar maintenance is vital to the growth of our Port Allen Rail Terminal,” says Steve Roth, USA Rail Terminals executive vice president, in a statement. “We are pleased that Freedom Railcar Solutions has come to the Greater Baton Rouge Area to offer the services that we believe are necessary to ensure safe and efficient railcar movement in the region.”

Freedom Railcar expects its location to be operational for mobile car repair and maintenance by August 2016 and for mobile cleaning by June 2016.
