NBC and Donald Trump officially confirmed today what Mayor Kip Holden announced last week: the Miss USA pageant is returning to Baton Rouge. But today’s announcement from NBC and Trump, who owns the pageant, came with a few more details on the event, such as the scheduled live broadcast time of 8 to 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, from the Baton Rouge River Center. NBC will have the coverage.
“The 2014 MISS USA Pageant delivered an unprecedented amount of national and international exposure for Baton Rouge, taking its reputation for tourism and business opportunities beyond the local level,” says Trump in a news release. “This year’s pageant will be no different. Continuing our partnership guarantees another sold-out show that will provide Louisiana’s capital with another three hours of prime-time television coverage.”
Other new details from today’s release: L’Auberge Casino & Hotel will once again host the Miss USA contestants leading up to the pageant. Last year’s telecast concluded with Nia Sanchez, Miss Nevada USA, being crowned Miss USA 2014. It took place before a sold-out Baton Rouge River Center crowd and was aired live on NBC. About 70 countries saw the broadcast, which included many flattering shots of the Capital City.
