Turns out lemonade is a highly profitable industry along the corridor. An organization called Kids Wanna Help has raised $33,136 for corridor charities, $9,000 of it from lemonade stands. Now the group open to kids in third through seventh grades is hosting its own workshop on entrepreneurism called the Young Business Owner Workshop to kick off the 2009 lemonade season. It’s set for 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Franco’s Athletic Club in Mandeville. Those who attend will automatically become a part of the 2009 Lemonade Brigade. Topics include what it’s like to start your own business before you are a grown-up, creative ideas for businesses that kids can run by themselves, how to market your new business, fiscal responsibility, successful communication, how to run a professional and profitable lemonade stand and how to choose a charity that’s just right for you. The future business owners will also get a lesson in yoga to relieve the stress that inevitably comes with being in charge. To learn more about the organization or register for the workshop, click here, or call the Lemonade Brigade Hotline at 985-875-0407.
