The University of Michigan has fired Rich Rodriguez after three seasons as the Wolverines’ football coach. Rodriguez was fired today after posting a record of 15-22, capped off by a blowout 52-14 loss to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. Several names have surfaced in connection with the vacant Michigan job, considered to be one of the best in college football. LSU coach Les Miles, a former Michigan offensive lineman and assistant coach, is rumored to be a candidate. Miles was connected to the Michigan job the last time it was open in 2007. Last month, Miles said he wasn’t expecting to hear from any school about job openings and he enjoys being at LSU. Stanford’s Jim Harbaugh, considered to be the frontrunner for the job, has reportedly said he isn’t interested in going to Michigan.
