A World War II hero who founded a floral empire. A businesswoman who broke gender barriers to build a national company. A man of faith—and industry.

These are among the 2016 Business Award and Hall of Fame honorees, as profiled in the new cover package of Business Report.

This year’s honorees, as selected by a community panel of judges, are:

Business Report highlights their accomplishments, success and contributions to the quality of life in the Capital Region—as well as the inspiration they bring to others—in full profiles of each honoree in the new cover package. They will also be honored at a special gala taking place later this month.

The Business Awards were launched in 1984 to pay tribute to remarkable individuals and companies in the local business sector, and to recognize their many accomplishments. In 1993, Business Report brought in a partner, Junior Achievement, to present the awards, and the Hall of Fame category was added to recognize a lifetime of achievement.

Tickets are still available for the 2016 Business Awards & Hall of Fame Banquet, presented by Business Report and Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge and Acadiana. The event, sponsored by Capital One and Franklin, will be held Thursday, March 17, at the Crowne Plaza. Tickets are $80 each or $750 for a table of 10. Proceeds benefit the Junior Achievement Endowment Fund. Tickets are available online or by calling (225) 928-7008.
