Joe McPherson is dropping out of the race for the Louisiana Public Service Commission in District 4. The Woodworth Democrat said today that turnout is expected to be dismal in next month’s runoff, giving an overwhelming advantage to his Republican opponent, Clyde Holloway of Forest Hill. McPherson said he’ll remain in his seat in the state Senate. The only Capital Region parish in District 4 is Pointe Coupee.
