Barnhart Crane and Rigging, one of the largest crane and heavy lift equipment operators in the U.S., has leased a 5-acre site in Gonzales and plans to put a small office and equipment staging area there, according to Mark Hebert, of Kurtz and Hebert Commercial Real Estate, who brokered the deal.
The site is located at the intersection of La. 22 and La. 44, and is owned by Robert Farms. The lease price is around $5,000 per month, Hebert says.
A local Barnhart executive, Page Breaux, declines to comment on the company’s plans for the site, which will be the fourth Barnhart location in Louisiana. The company, which has 30 locations nationwide, already operates in Westlake, Monroe and Shreveport, according to its website.
Hebert says like so many other industrial contractors, Barnhart was attracted to the area by all the industrial construction work going on in the south Louisiana petrochemical sector.
“All you have to do is drive down Highway 30 in Gonzales to see all the activity,” Hebert says. —Stephanie Riegel
