Maginnis: Democrats will be hard-pressed to topple Jindal

The fact that former Gov. Edwin Edwards, fresh out of a stint in federal prison, and Tara Hollis, a Haynesville schoolteacher who may run for governor, are the two most prominent Democrats in Louisiana says a lot about the sorry state of the party, says John Maginnis. But even if a dominant candidate emerged with the $10 million war chest, he or she would be hard-pressed to beat Gov. Bobby Jindal in this fall’s elections. “An electorate that is not riled up tends to be inert. In and around the middle are moderate Democrats and independents who, if not excited about Jindal, prefer to leave well enough alone for another term,” Maginnis says. Read the full column here.
