LSU officials confirmed today that the university will reopen Friday, with all classes taking place and campus offices open. “If students cannot attend classes because of their individual circumstance, they should communicate with their respective faculty members as soon as possible,” LSU says, adding: “As of this time, there is no change in the status of Saturday’s football game versus North Texas.” Southern University, whose campus was still without air conditioning as of noon, hopes to have the system restored later today. Southern says Friday will be a workday for faculty and staff, but that classes won’t resume until Tuesday. Baton Rouge Community College will also resume classes Tuesday, as will the Catholic schools in East Baton Rouge Parish. As of press time, EBR public schools had not yet issued a statement on the status of classes Friday, nor had a school system spokesman returned calls for comment. An announcement is anticipated later today and expected to be posted on the school system’s website here. Livingston and Ascension Parish public schools have both announced schools will remain closed through Tuesday.
