Inspiring college students how to think like entrepreneurs was the goal of this week’s Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour at LSU, a half-day conference featuring workshops and some of the country’s top young business owners. The EJ Ourso College of Business’ Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute hosted the event as part of its strategy to teach business basics to non-business majors. Last fall, SEI began featuring a campus-wide entrepreneurship minor. “We know there are a lot of future artists, photographers, graphic designers and others who want to start their own businesses, but they’re not in the business school,” says SEI adjunct professor and former Dallas-based entrepreneur Jarrett Rodriguez. “We’re teaching real-world skills. Entrepreneurship is vital to Louisiana’s economy.” The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour was open to LSU students, the general public and all area high schools. About 150 were in attendance at the event’s mid-point. As part of its continuing outreach effort, SEI will hold a public, fee-based seminar on doing business with China on Saturday.
