Local universities have established relief funds to assist students and employees affected by Louisiana’s record flooding.
Donations can be made online to Southern University’s flood relief fund for students and staff. LSU also has established a Student Disaster Relief Fund.
At the request of LSU President F. King Alexander, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation has established an LSU Employee Assistance Fund to help LSU employees experiencing hardships because of the flooding.
Revised preliminary estimates show that more than 146,000 homes in the greater Baton Rouge area are in sectors that received flooding.
“While the LSU campus was relatively untouched, many of our Tiger family suffered ruinous damage to their homes,” Alexander says in a statement. “Employees and students’ lives are in upheaval. We have a duty to help them, and I am asking all Tigers everywhere to join together in support of our LSU community.” Donations also can be made to the Employee Assistance Fund online.
LSU’s employee assistance fund was established through BRAF’s Employee 1st Program.
