LSU is planning to reconfigure and change the names of some of its colleges and schools, and make changes to the reporting lines of its several academic units, according to a letter to students, faculty and staff from LSU Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Astrid Merget. She writes that the changes are being considered to “better align disciplines and professions within our colleges in order to foster collaboration and minimize fragmentation.” Despite rumors, “nothing is official,” according to Merget, who is waiting for feedback from the University Planning Council, a group of top faculty reviewing the proposal. Merget is also visiting with other LSU faculty groups and several deans for feedback and ideas. To read the entire letter, click here.—Steve Clark
