For the sixth year in a row, the LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute will recognize the fastest growing companies owned or operated by LSU alumni.
The institute, which promotes entrepreneurship, hosts LSU 100: Fastest Growing Tiger Businesses, a competitive program that identifies and ranks alumni businesses around the world.
Postlethwaite & Netterville, LSU 100’s official accounting firm, compiles the ranking list from submitted nominations and applications. This year, the submissions must be submitted by Thursday, March 31.
Applications and nominations are being accepted now, according to a news release issued today. Individuals can nominate themselves.
In October, Harvey-based Global Commerce & Services topped the list as the fastest growing LSU alumni-led or run business. Joaneane Smith, who founded the company in 2000, accepted the honor on behalf of her firm. The company also was ranked No. 219 on the 2014 Inc. 500 list.
Five Baton Rouge-based businesses also were included on the LSU 100 list unveiled in October: Lipsey’s, Solid Gold Innovation, Red Six Media, Tin Roof Brewing Co. and Skyhawk, which cracked the list at No. 2.
The businesses learned they made the list during a gathering held at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel where the rankings were unveiled.
To be eligible for the LSU 100 list, a company must be in operation for five or more years and must have at least $100,000 in verifiable revenues for the 2012-2015 calendar years, according to a news release. A former LSU student also must own at least 50% of the company or serve as president, managing partner or chief executive officer. It also must operate in a manner consistent with LSU or SEI’s mission.
The 2016 list will be shared with LSU’s Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute in early August. The LSU 100 Dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel in Baton Rouge. Applications, additional information and partnership opportunities can be found here or call (225) 578-0313.
