It’s going to be an extra early morning for tailgaters on Oct. 1. The Southeastern Conference today announced LSU’s matchup against Kentucky will kickoff at 11:20 a.m. in Tiger Stadium so that it can be televised on the SEC Network. Likely due to expected backlash from the Tiger faithful, LSU has already started a Facebook page explaining the start time. See it here. Due to CBS’s exclusive windows for both the 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. time slots on this date, the only available start time for the other television networks was prior to noon. This will mark the first time since Sept. 30, 2006, that LSU plays host to a conference opponent in this time slot. In 2008, LSU faced Appalachian State at 10 a.m. because of the threat of Hurricane Gustav. All SEC teams must abide by television contracts negotiated by the SEC, and cannot refuse to move games to the daytime if requested to do so.
LSU-Kentucky will kick off early on Oct. 1
