Four new tenants operating in the water filtration and energy sectors are joining the Louisiana Business & Technology Center incubator at LSU’s Innovation Park this year.

The new tenants are Aquaculture Systems Technologies, Lighting Choice, Power Engineering and LED Supply Plus.

Aquaculture Systems Technologies developed bead filters that were originally invented to overcome some of the major problems with using sand filters in high density recirculating aquaculture systems. Compared to sand filters, the LBTC says bead filters are immune to biofouling, never require replacement of the bead media, minimize water usage and reduce energy cost by lowering pump head requirements.

Lighting Choice, meanwhile, provides LED lighting technology for commercial, industrial and residential applications. LED Supply Plus is also a developer and marketing solution for engineered LED lighting applications. Power Engineering is an energy solutions company that is developing power concepts for industry.

During 2015, the LBTC graduated two companies from the incubator program—MMI Controls and APEX Resistance & Conditioning—that have since relocated in the Baton Rouge community. During the 27-year history of the LBTC, over 95% of the graduate companies have stayed in Louisiana, LSU says. The LBTC has 40 chemistry labs and workshops with bench space for companies to develop, test and manufacture products.
