David Constant is stepping down as dean of the LSU Graduate School and will return to the LSU College of Engineering. The university will develop an internal search committee as soon as possible to find a new dean. Constant will remain as dean during that time to help the graduate school make the transition to its new leadership.

Constant was named interim dean of the graduate school in May 2009 and became dean in March 2010. Before that, he spent approximately 25 years in the College of Engineering working in various faculty and administrative roles.

During his tenure as dean, Constant implemented a number of significant changes to improve the functioning of the graduate school. Most recently, Constant was assisted by an ad hoc committee in reviewing graduate school policies and procedures to identify areas for streamlining and improving efficiency; the result is a report the graduate school will use in instituting 13 improvements.
