LSU jumped three spots to No. 4 on the Forbes list of the most valuable college football teams in the nation, behind Penn State, Notre Dame and Texas. According to the report, LSU football is worth $96 million, with $69 million in annual revenue and $47 million in profit. LSU is also ranked 10th on the magazine’s list of the Best College Football Teams for the Money—and is the lone Southeastern Conference team on that list—with total football expenses totaling $21 million and a $1.6 million cost-per-win ratio. “LSU is also a great example of how college football programs generate immense value in surrounding communities,” the magazine says, further quoting Baton Rouge Area Chamber President/CEO Adam Knapp and Tiger District owner Jared Loftus—who the magazine recently named College Football’s Biggest Entrepreneur—in its coverage. One Forbes list LSU was not represented on is the Greediest Coaches of 2011. Former Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt is the lone SEC coach on that list.
