The LSU Board of Supervisors has paid $2.2 million for a 22-acre tract of undeveloped land next to its South Campus. The supervisors bought the property Tuesday from the LSU Property Foundation. Sara Crow, a spokeswoman for the LSU Foundation, says the foundation bought land between GSRI Avenue and River Road and has held the property until the university got money from the state to pay for it. Last year, the state gave LSU capital outlay funds to pay for this tract. “This was the first incident of LSU buying land from the foundation,” Crow says. During the legislative session earlier this year, LSU got $1.35 million for land purchases, so another transaction will happen soon, Crow says.
