Those interested in learning more and possibly investing in the budding medical marijuana program at the LSU AgCenter will have a chance to get an in-depth look at the center’s business plan during a public forum later this month.

The forum will take place on the LSU campus at the Digital Media Center Theatre from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. Seating is limited to 175, and registration will be required to attend.

Along with Southern University, the LSU AgCenter has opted in to be licensed as a producer for the state’s medical marijuana program. But with the state’s budget constraints, the LSU AgCenter has determined that state funds will not be used to finance the operation. Thus, the center is seeking outside investment to fund all aspects of the operation from the physical facility and production operation to the final product formulation.

Attendees of the public forum will receive updates from the center on the current and proposed regulations from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and the Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners. LSU says the forum will also provide an opportunity for parties interested in investing in the program to view and discuss the LSU AgCenter’s business plan.
