Baton Rouge-based Secure Shredding and Recycling International has been named the fastest-growing company owned or led by LSU alumni, topping this year’s LSU 100 rankings.
LSU 100 is a competitive program that recognizes and celebrates the 100 fastest-growing alumni-owned or -led businesses in the world, determined by compound annual growth over a three-year period. Company rankings were revealed Friday at a gala held at L’Auberge Casino Hotel in Baton Rouge.
Founded in 2009, Secure Shredding and Recycling is a provider of document destruction services for individuals, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. The company’s owner, Jay Babb, is a graduate of LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business.
Following the company on the list are: Emergent Method (Baton Rouge); Vacherie Fuel (Thibodaux); Texas Pride Disposal (Rosenberg, Texas); and Bite and Booze LLC (Baton Rouge). Peachtree Tents & Events, the Nashville-based company that topped last year’s rankings, ranked No. 6 on this year’s list.
Also at Friday’s ceremony, LSU introduced the ROARING 10 List, which recognizes and celebrates the 10 highest revenue generating businesses that applied for the LSU 100. Topping the list was Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, whose co-CEO, Brad Sanders, is an architecture graduate from LSU’s College of Art & Design.
Raising Cane’s also received the annual LSU 100 Summit Award, which is given to the honoree company that generated the highest revenue amount for the award period.
Since the inaugural LSU 100 rankings were released in 2011, four companies—Global Data Vault, Horizon Financial Group, Petroleum Service Corporation, and USA Technologies, Inc.—have made the list every year. A fifth company, Lipsey’s LLC, earned a ranking on the growth list for the first eight years and earned a ranking on the Roaring 10 list this year.
