Education and talent development will be among the highlighted topics when a delegation of Baton Rouge business and community leaders travels to Louisville for three days and two nights in March for the 2012 Baton Rouge Area Canvas Workshop. Mayor Kip Holden and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber announced the destination this morning. Those taking the trip to Louisville will be looking to glean insights from a community that has undertaken a number of successful initiatives in public education, workforce development, talent retention and attraction, international business development and riverfront development, according to BRAC. The Canvas Workshop will be held March 25-27. It is the seventh such trip sponsored by the city-parish and BRAC, with previous workshops held in Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tenn.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Portland, Ore.; Richmond, Va.; and Pittsburgh. This year’s workshop is being chaired by Scott Hensgens, managing partner-Baton Rouge for Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson. A recap of past Canvas Workshop trips and outcomes can be viewed here. Registration for the trip officially begins Monday, Nov. 28. Those who want more information can contact Nancy Little at nancy@brac.org.
