Louisiana Smart Growth Summit returns to Baton Rouge, marks CPEX’s 20th year

Sponsored by Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX)

For 20 years, CPEX has helped Louisiana communities turn vision into action. This October 21-22, that work comes to life at the 2026 Louisiana Smart Growth Summit at the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge.

The Summit arrives at a defining moment for Louisiana, as communities navigate industrial expansion, growing energy needs, housing pressure, and mounting weather and insurance risk all at once. More than 500 leaders, including mayors, policymakers, planners, engineers, developers, and community advocates, will gather for two days of high-level, solutions-oriented conversation.

Majora Carter, a MacArthur Fellow and urban revitalization strategist, opens the Summit as the keynote speaker. Sessions will dig into the economics of growth, energy and the grid, resilience, housing, transportation, and more.

The Summit also marks CPEX’s 20th anniversary, with a signature evening celebration on Oct. 21.
