Louisiana native chef named one of the best in mid-Atlantic

Food and Wine Magazine has named Louisiana native Chef David Guas one of the 10 best up-and-coming chefs in the mid-Atlantic region, and now he’s competing to become the People’s Choice Best New Chef. Guas, who grew up in New Orleans, is the owner of Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery in Arlington, Va., and is the author of DamGoodSweet: Desserts to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth New Orleans Style. In its latest issue, the magazine profiles him and other emerging chefs all across the country. Readers can vote their choice of who should be named the best new chef overall. In his Q&A, Guas says his must-try dish is “Muff-a-Lotta,” his take on the New Orleans iconic salami-and-olive sandwich.
