Business Facilities magazine has ranked Louisiana as the second-best state in the country for Economic Growth Potential. The state came in behind Virginia. The ranking represents a leap for Louisiana, which did not crack the top 10 in 2010. Business Facilities attributed this year’s showing to diverse new investment and job growth in industries including oil and gas, steel and digital media. In particular, the magazine singled out Nucor Corp., which manufactures steel and iron in St. James Parish, as an example of Louisiana’s economic momentum. The state also landed at No. 7 for Best Business Climate. It ranked eighth in that category in 2010, when Business Facilities named Louisiana its State of the Year. For the full report, click here.
