The Louisiana Culinary Institute has added a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts to its list of degree programs.
According to the institute, the program is a complement to its Associate of Occupational Studies in Culinary Arts degree program. Degree candidates will have the same choice of concentrations: advanced baking and pastry or advanced culinary arts.
Charlie Ruffolo, the institute’s director of public affairs, says the new program will take less than three years to complete and aims to get students into the culinary arts field quickly. If a student does not take unscheduled breaks, he or she could earn the degree in two and a half years.
“The culinary arts and hospitality fields are exploding with career opportunities, and the industry is craving professionals with a strong foundation and formal education,” Ruffolo says in a statement.
The program includes an internship component that would be focused on the student’s concentration.
