John Lombardi, LSU System president, is telling chancellors and administrators to set aside a deadline to come up with a 10% cut in spending. Lombardi suggests that target “may be more severe” than what the budget will require. But he cautions that budget reduction preparations should go on because there are many uncertainties in the budget process. “We do not know what the Legislature may request of us once the session begins, so we will need to be ready to produce very quickly our likely responses at any level of detail that may be required during the legislative budget process,” Lombardi says.
