We all yearn for that one career that puts food on the table and resonates with our soul. Confucius coined the phrase about 2,500 years ago: Find a job you enjoy, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Still, in the 21st century, that dream job remains elusive for much of the working masses. Some of us have known since childhood what it was we wanted to be when we grew up, and we achieved that goal. Others earned a degree in general studies, jumped from one meaningless gig to another and still haven’t figured it out. Some of us gave up the dream in responding to the realities of a mortgage, private-school tuition and braces. And still others had nowhere else to turn but their dream as a last resort after being laid off or fired. In the new Business Report cover story by Penny Font, seven Capital Region professionals who have found their dream jobs provide insight on how they achieved it and give advice to those aspiring to live it. Read it here, and send your comments to editors@businessreport.com.
