Friday, Live After Five returns with another year of free concerts downtown. Since the usual locale, Galvez Plaza, is under heavy construction, Live After Five has a temporary but spacious location at A.Z. Young Park in the shadow of the State Capitol building. Every week through Oct. 28, a new musician will light up the stage, and styles range from roots rock to funk. Kicking off this year’s series is Satisfaction, Baton Rouge’s premiere Rolling Stones cover band. Buy a bite from the food vendors, take in the fresh air and get your weekend started right. The concert is from 5-8 p.m. … Go to the USS Kidd Sunday for the annual Freedom Walk and Patriot Day observances. The Freedom Walk is a traditional communal opportunity to reflect on the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honors veterans, past and present. Patriot Day ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the museum grounds to honor and remember Louisiana natives lost in the Pentagon and World Trade Center attacks. The walk will begin immediately following the ceremony. The ceremony and walk are free and open to the public.
