Less than two months after opening its first restaurant in Baton Rouge, Lit Pizza has announced a second location in Gonzales that will open next year.

The fast-casual build-your-own pizza concept from the founders of Izzo’s Illegal Burrito will open in the LeBlanc’s Lagniappe Shopping Center, 14635 Airline Hwy. It will be located next to Izzo’s in phase two of center, with an anticipated opening late next spring.

Business partners Ozzie Fernandez and Gary Kovacs opened the first Lit Pizza on Aug. 15 at 3930 Burbank Dr. in the Southgate Shopping Center near LSU.

“We continue to be humbled by the overwhelming support of our first location by LSU, choosing Lit’s second location next to LeBlanc’s was an easy decision for us based on the success of the Izzo’s location,” Fernandez says in a statement.

Several more locations are planned for both Izzo’s and Lit Pizza in Ascension Parish and Baton Rouge, as well as other sites across Louisiana, Fernandez says.

Alex Knight of NAI/Latter & Blum-Donnie Jarreau Real Estate brokered the deal between Lit Pizza and Leblanc’s Lagniappe Shopping Center for the second location. Financial details were not released.

The Lit Pizza concept allows customers to craft their own pizzas by choosing from a variety of locally-sourced meat and vegetables, gluten-free dough and vegan cheese options. The pizzas are cooked over a wood fire.
