Lieutenant governors from around the United States are gathering in New Orleans this week for a three-day meeting.
Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell will welcome the 2018 annual meeting of the National Lieutenant Governors Association on Wednesday morning.
The group was founded in 1962 as a professional association for elected officials who are first in the line of succession to the governors of 50 states and five U.S. territories.
The lieutenant governors will attend panel discussions on tourism and best practices in emergency management at the conference and will also discuss Louisiana’s five Mississippi River ports and the seafood industry’s impact on the rest of the country.
