ExposureWear, a St. Francisville company, has been awarded a $1 million key development contract from the Army to provide next generation cooling/heating suits for soldiers. The company, which is a client of the Louisiana Business & Technology Center at LSU, will finalize development of the Army Climatic Suit (ACS). The ACS is a next-generation soldier cooling system and uses a proprietary forced-evaporation process to remove excess body heat trapped under protective equipment and clothes. Along with the military usage, the system could be used by firefighters, law enforcement, hazmat crews and workers impacted by extreme temperatures.
