After serving a little more than three years as the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s director for talent development, Julie Laperouse is leaving BRAC to take her skills to the private sector.
Baton Rouge-based management and strategy consulting firm Emergent Method announced this morning that Laperouse—who was among the Baton Rouge Business Report Forty Under 40 honorees in 2014—is joining its team as director of training.
Since joining BRAC in April 2012, Laperouse has overseen the creation and growth of the organization’s talent development program for the retention and attraction of skilled workers for area businesses. Prior to joining BRAC, she operated Bancroft Paper Company in Jackson, Mississippi, where she oversaw the transition of the company’s prior ownership and helped realize a more than 200% increase in sales over the course of a two-year period, Emergent says in a news release.
Laperouse is also founder of Screaming Peacock, a motivational speaking firm, and is author of Are you a Screaming Peacock?, which complements her public speaking engagements that she conducts across the Gulf Coast and beyond.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have someone of Julie’s caliber join our growing team,” says Nick Speyrer, Emergent Method president, in a prepared statement. “Julie has developed an incredible reputation and brand, and her valuable skillset will allow us to offer a more comprehensive suite of services to our clients.”
In her new role at Emergent, Laperouse will lead efforts to grow the firm’s suite of training and development services, particularly those involving leadership development, supervisory skills, soft skills, team building and operational improvements.
“There’s never been a more pressing need for professional development and soft skills training in our community and throughout the Gulf Coast,” says Laperouse, a Jennings native and LSU graduate, in a prepared statement. “I look forward to building on my experience and collaborating with the incredible team at Emergent Method to provide a comprehensive suite of training and development services to our past, current and future clients.”
