With Lake Charles developer Michael Hankins’ acquisition of a plot of land at 6212 Siegen Lane now finalized, Lafayette-based Burgersmith is one step closer to opening the doors to its third location overall and second in Baton Rouge. Under Siegen Shopping Center LLC, Hankins and Jason Garcille purchased the parcel, which is adjacent to TJ Ribs, for approximately $845,000, according to land records filed today with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court. As Daily Report previously reported, Hankins plans to build a 6,400-square-foot shopping center, for which Burgersmith will serve as anchor tenant. Burgersmith, which operates its first Baton Rouge location in the Acadian-Perkins Plaza at the corner of Perkins Road and South Acadian Thruway, will lease approximately 3,400 square feet of the building, leaving 3,000 square feet to be leased to one or two other tenants. According to a third-party listing online, the shopping center will have a 4-foot stone wrap with a brick façade. Hankins previously told Daily Report that the shell of the center would be complete by June, giving Burgersmith time to finish its build-out by the end of the year. The seller in the land deal was Bristol Holdings LLC. The land for the center is located across Siegen from the Team Honda car dealership. —Rachel Alexander
