We’ve seen battles over boudin before. (If you missed it, here’s the recent story from The Wall Street Journal on the dispute a few Louisiana cities engaged in over which is the real “Boudin Capital of the World.”) But this one is different. As The Independent reports, Lafayette restaurant Dean-O’s is changing the name of its boudin pizza because Pastime Restaurant of Baton Rouge has trademarked the pizza name and recently sent Dean-O’s a cease-and-desist letter demanding it alter the name. Dean-O’s owner Tim Metcalf says he was stunned when he read the letter, but decided to rename the pizza and start an online campaign to get his patrons to assist in the process. The winning name is to be announced later today, and so far the names in contention are “Boudin-licious,” “Cajun Violation” and “Boo-Dat.” Read the full story here.
