Senior point guard Destini Hughes will miss the rest of the season for the LSU women’s basketball team. Hughes sustained a right knee injury during the first half of the Lady Tigers’ 65-56 loss Thursday night at Tennessee. She is expected to undergo surgery next week. “Destini has been a leader and a critical part of our success this season,” LSU coach Nikki Caldwell says. “She’s the kind of person and player that makes her teammates better. We feel for her but know she will continue to be a leader for us even through this tough time.” Hughes has started all 17 games for the Lady Tigers, averaging 24.2 minutes, 7.4 points and 2.8 assists.
