The state’s largest business association, Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, announced today the creation of its new Technology Advocacy Council, which will serve as a lobbying group for technology-focused businesses and users of tech applications. LABI is seeking input from its members to identify and prioritize business needs, and to craft a lobbying agenda. LABI says the first meeting of the new council will be held “soon” and that all LABI members who express interest will be invited to attend. Michael Olivier will chair the Technology Advocacy Council for 2012. Olivier also serves as CEO of the Louisiana Committee of 100 for Economic Development and the Louisiana Technology Council. LABI President Dan Juneau says the Technology Advocacy Council will support, not duplicate, the activities of the Louisiana Technology Council. LABI staff lobbyist Brian Landry will serve as director of the new Technology Advocacy Council. For more information and to provide input, contact Landry at 215-6629 or BrianL@labi.org.
