The most important issue to Louisiana’s small business owners in the race for the White House is the economy and jobs, according to a new survey from Thumbtack, a Web-based marketplace for local services. Thirty-four percent of the survey’s respondents say the economy and jobs is forefront on their minds while deciding whom to cast a vote for, while 13% say ethics in office is the most important issue; 11% say getting Democratic President Barack Obama out of office is the most important issue—and 5% say the same about defeating GOP challenger Mitt Romney. Specifically, when it comes to the economy, 16% of Louisiana small business owners say drawing down the federal deficit is the most important issue; while 13% say the focus should be on the banking/financial system; 13% say inflation/rising prices are the No. 1 economic issue; and 13% also say unemployment is the key issue to focus on. Small business owners identified personal income tax costs as the single most burdensome cost to their business—more burdensome than even self-employment taxes or gas and fuel costs. As for which candidate is the most supportive of small businesses, 37% say it’s Romney, 29% say Obama, and 34% say they’re not sure. You can check out the complete survey results here.
