Louisiana received a “C” for its manufacturing base and a “B” for its logistic services, according to a new report card of states. The report, by the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University, looked at three factors: the share of total income earned by manufacturing employees, the wage premium paid to manufacturing workers relative to the other employees, and the share of manufacturing employment per capita. Midwestern states dominated the rankings, with Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan and Ohio each earning an “A.” The logistics ranking looked at total logistics industry income as a share of total state income, employment per capita, and commodity flows data by roads and rail. Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania each were given an “A.” To see the report, click here.
