Sweetie Pie, the 2-year-old Kleinpeter Farms Dairy cow born with the likeness of the company’s heart-shaped logo on her forehead, is expecting her first calf. Company officials say she has been pregnant for eight weeks, and the calf is due in August 2012. Kleinpeter President Jeff Kleinpeter says Sweetie Pie was impregnated by natural means and not by artificial insemination. “The father, Duke, is a very nice, handsome bull, with outstanding genetics, living on our farm,” Kleinpeter says. Duke and Sweetie Pie are Jersey cows, he says, so the calf also will be a Jersey. Kleinpeter says the calf’s gender won’t be known until it’s born, adding that he’s not sure whether the heart-shaped spot is genetic. To see a photo of Kleinpeter with Sweetie Pie, click here.
