Gov. Bobby Jindal’s first campaign commercial for the fall election season will be on television Thursday, an ad touting the governor’s anti-tax stance. Jindal’s top political aide, Timmy Teepell, says the ad will run statewide—and often enough, he says, that people will have many chances to see it. He declined to give the specific price of the ad buy, besides saying it is costing the campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars. A script of the ad has Jindal, a Republican running for his second term, declaring his No. 1 focus is job creation and saying state government won’t raise taxes to cope with its budget shortfall. Jindal’s ad comes months before the October election and with Jindal so far lacking any declared opponents. Jindal started 2011 with a campaign war chest of $9.2 million.
