Three Louisiana officials have made Southern Business & Development’s list of “Ten People Who Make a Difference.” Gov. Bobby Jindal and LED Secretary Stephen Moret made the list for their efforts in improving the business climate in Louisiana. Southern Business notes that the state added jobs eight out of the 12 months in 2008, while the United States as a whole was losing jobs every month. “There’s no question the general business climate in Louisiana has improved in Jindal’s first year, outperforming most Southern states,” the magazine says.
George Swift, president and CEO of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance in Lake Charles was also honored. The magazine saluted Swift for his work in helping to revitalize the local economy after Hurricane Rita. Those efforts paid off last year when the Shaw Group announced plans to build a nuclear module fabrication and assembly facility in Lake Charles. To see the full list, click here.
