The Rev. Jesse Jackson is set to attend rallies in Baton Rouge and New Orleans organized to oppose the proposed merger of Southern University at New Orleans and the University of New Orleans. Jackson will be at a rally in Baton Rouge Sunday at 6 p.m. at Living Faith Christian Center. He will also speak at an event organized by the SUNO Student Government Association at noon Monday, at the school gymnasium. Gov. Bobby Jindal has suggested that the Board of Regents study merging the SUNO and UNO campuses, but that proposal has prompted complaints from Southern officials and black political leaders.
