Jacobs Engineering Group has been awarded a contract from Honeywell to provide engineering services for the expansion of its north Baton Rouge manufacturing facility. Honeywell announced in July plans to spend $33 million to expand its chemical plant to allow the facility to produce a substance for use in energy-efficient insulation and environmentally friendly aerosols and refrigerants. Jacobs—which has offices in Baton Rouge and is headquartered in Pasadena, Calif.—will provide the engineering services from its Mt. Laurel, N.J., offices. The financials of the deal were not disclosed. The Honeywell expansion is expected to be completed by 2013 and to create 11 new jobs at the plant, with an average salary of $64,000 plus benefits. The work will generate nearly 100 construction jobs. Honeywell officials say the expansion helps secure the long-term viability of the plant, which has about 200 employees.
