Louisiana’s Republican elected officials are scrapping or delaying travel plans for the GOP’s national convention in Tampa, Fla. Some who had arrived in Tampa quickly turned around and headed back to Louisiana to await landfall of Tropical Storm Isaac at home. Gov. Bobby Jindal hasn’t officially canceled his plans to speak at the convention, but says he won’t leave Louisiana “as long as we’re in harm’s way.” Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain made it to Tampa, but is returning to Louisiana today, according to his spokeswoman Veronica Mosgrove. Jefferson Parish President John Young, whose parish is a New Orleans suburb, abandoned his trip.
