Want to hear from and meet the top management of 34 of the region’s top public companies? Plan to attend the 13th Annual Burkenroad Reports Investment Conference April 24 at the Chateau Bourbon Hotel in New Orleans. Tulane Professor Peter Ricchiuti notes that the session, which comes after a miserable stock market in 2008, is aptly called, “Bargains on the Bayou?” The free event typically draws 500-600 from the Gulf Coast community. Each year, Burkenroad Reports divides 200 Tulane University Freeman School of Business students into teams who write an in-depth investment research report on one of 40 small-cap, underfollowed “stocks under rocks” headquartered in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Each team visits with top management and the companies’ sites. The research is also used by the investment managers of the Burkenroad Mutual Fund at Hancock Bank. The publicly traded fund has about $35 million in assets and has outperformed more than 99% of the nation’s mutual funds since its inception in 2001. Burkenroad Reports started in 1993.
