Two of the Capital Region’s newest community banks announced a plan to merge. Investar Bank plans to join with Prairieville-based South Louisiana Business Bank. Terms of the deal, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, were not disclosed. The combined bank, which will do business as Investar, will have five branches in four parishes and $252 million in assets. John D’Angelo, president and CEO, says the deal will allow Investar to move into Ascension Parish. Investar was started in 2006, while South Louisiana Business started in 2008.
